Kavalam Srikumar

Kavalam Srikumar is an established classical musician from Kerala. Born to an illustrious father Padmabhushan i Kavalam Narayana Pannikkar, the famous Theatre Director and Poet, Shri Srikumar represents the new generation while maintaining his versatility on traditional Classical music. Srikumar has had a long association with All India Radio as Production Executive.

His distinctive rendering of Ramayana and Bhagavathas in a soulful voice has been acclaimed by the audience worldwide and made him a popular figure on all TV channesls He had widely traveled all over the world and performed in USA, Europe, Middle East etc.

He is a recipient of prestigious awards like Akashvani (All India Radio) Annual Award for the best musical feature produced in 1989 & 1990. He was given the title Ramakadha Shukan from Malliyur in the year 1999. He has received the Ganapoornasree award from Chettikulangara in 2011 as well as the Kerala Sangeeth Natak Akademy Award for 2012

Dr. Sreevalsan Menon

Born in 1970, Dr Sreevalsan Menon had his initial training at the age of five from Smt Rajalakshmi Krishnan in Trichur. Under her able guidance Dr Sreevalsan developed the confidence and motivation to start singing in concerts independently. He later underwent advanced training to master the nuances of Carnatic music under Shri T V Ramani (AIR Trichur) and the legendary musician Padmasri Neyyattinikara Vasudevan. This period was a turning point in his life as he mastered Manodharma sangeetha and accompanied Shri Neyyattinikara in his concerts.

He imbibed a lot of knowledge from his Gurus during this period. Dr Sreevalsan Menon is an accredited A grade artiste with All India Radio and Doordarshan, Thiruvananthapuram. He has performed music concerts at various platforms in USA, Canada, Africa and UAE. He has performed with the likes of great artists like Sri Umalayapuram Sivaraman, Sri Guruvayur Dorai, Sri Kamalakara Rao, Sri Mannargudi Easwaran, Sri Tiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam and Sri Trichur C Narendran.

He is the recipient of various including awards from the Madras Music Academy (2001,2002,2004,2005), the Chembai Memorial Trust Award in 2002, just to name a few. He has been conferred the title Nada Oli by Nada Inbam, Chennai in 2003, the title Yuvakalaratnam by Kaladarpanam in 2003 amongst a list of other titles which have been conferred on him. Dr Sreevalsan has scored music for award winning films like Mazha and plays like Neelavalicham and Mahakaviyam. Dr Menon has conducted extensive studies on attitudes towards carnatic music, emotional impact of ragas among college students etc. He has conducted orientation programmes and workshops to impart knowledge on carnatic music.

Dr. Preetha Menon

Dr. Preetha Menon is a renowned Psychotherapist and an academician based at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Her studies in behavioural research especially in the domain of cognitive development and academic performance in children led her to pursue problems like anxiety and stage fright for which she has evolved psychotherapeutic interventions. With key competencies and skills in Psychological Assessments and Psychometric testing, she has scientifically conducted tests of aptitude, interest, IQ, emotional intelligence, social intelligence, etc. among women, children and students in various Universities. Her Personality Profiling and Stress Management Programmes conducted for the Engineering, Nursing and B. Ed. students of Tamil Nadu have received wide acceptance.

Dr.Preetha has also been working with parents of children with special needs, women and children undergoing anxiety, depression and emotional problems and academic underperformance in children. She has evolved extensive procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions and also taken up career counselling and guidance and these efforts have brought her many awards and laurels. Dr. Preetha has a philosophical perspective to every action of the human psyche and has incorporated Indian philosophy and thoughts into the focus of her explorations. Deeply spiritual, she is one of the best known contemporary contributors to Indian aesthetics and emotion in arts. Dr. Preetha holds a Doctorate Degree in Counselling Psychology and has a number of publications in reputed international and national journals. Currently she works as Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology, Avinashilingam University for Women, Coimbatore.
